shipping ethics controversy in fanfiction
So, I came across this while casually browsing Wiki. Of course, while I would like to discuss it with someone (more like “YO were you at the forefront of this????”), that’s not practicable or desirable right now. Therefore, instead of that, I will talk about Frostpunk 2.
Frostpunk 2 is the sequel to Frostpunk (obviously), which is a game about survival in an age of sudden spontaneous catastrophic global cooling (to the point that even the tropics are frozen). You play as the Captain, the leader of a bunch of people settling around a “Generator” - a huge coal furnace - trying to eke out a living in the frozen hellscape. You pass laws, make hard moral decisions, and send people to die for the greater good.
In FP2, the world expands: you deal with thousands of people instead of tens, months instead of days, factions instead of individuals. There was a bunch of controversy when it was first released; many hardcore fans of the first game felt that the dramatic shift had killed what made Frostpunk magical.
but all of that is not important because I GOT CHOSEN FOR THE BREACH OF TRUST CLOSED BETA!!!!! it’s a DLC that’s coming out like end June but I applied on a whim and got to playtest it over the weekend and I’m quite excited because the previous DLC was content for Endless (sandbox-ish) Mode but this one is a whole ass new multi-act story!!!!!
(had to sign an NDA so I can’t even blog about anything that was wild)
